Camping Cots Help You Sleep At Night
If you like the joys of camping, then you will love the comfort of camping cots. Being free in the great outdoors amongst nature is great way
to get in touch with yourself and the environment, and allows you to enjoy the simple pleasures of life. I can remember back to the days I spent
as a youth in the scouts, those old fashioned heavy canvas tents that used to leak like a sieve if it rained. You know the ones with poles and
spikes that took hours and several people to erect. The ones that didn't have a floor so that snakes and bugs could come slivering through at
will. Not to mention the pack horses we became lugging all the heavy equipment to our chosen site. The one thing I hated the most in all of this
was sleeping on the hard floor with only a pillow, a sleeping bag (and I your were lucky) a blanket between you and the hard ground. Camping cots
would have made the experience much more enjoyable. Camping cots definitely did exist back then but they were large bulky things. They were heavy
and hard to carry. The comfort value of your average 1970s camping cot was questionable at the best of times.
Fortunately the world has moved on since those simple days and the world of camping equipment has also improved ten-fold.Tents are now able to
be put up in a matter of minutes rather than hours and equipment is now safer and lighter to carry. Camping can almost be an experience of luxury
now. Camping cots are no different. They have moved on and evolved as every other aspect providing comfort, convenience and style to your camping
trips. You need to consider a few things before buying a cot to take with you. One is weight. If you are going hard core camping, meaning hiking
and carrying everything without benefit of a car then you want camping cots that are relatively light. The last thing you want on your back is
something that weighs a ton.
There are plenty of styles available, and most of these are very portable and light weight. They range in price from 20 dollars on up to 200
some weighing less than 4 pounds. There are fancy 2 person camping cots as well that sleep 2 people and can hold combined weights of over 400
pounds. These can fold up to the size of a news paper and weigh only 8 pounds. Dont forget about durability. You want something that is going to
last, not lose its shape and be covered with rust. Remember, camping cots do not have a pleasant life. When in use camping cots are exposed to
elements and large amounts of weight. When theyre not in use they are folded up and packed away. You need something that will tolerate
this. If just a sleeping bag and the hard earth is your idea of a good nights sleep, then go for it. I like to make my camping trips more
comfortable and to make sure I not only enjoy the great outdoors, but also a good nights sleep.
