Camping Showers
One of the biggest hassles of camping is being able to keep clean and have a decent shower. Camping is simply great fun, but once you have been out away from home for a few days. You really do need to have a decent wash, and not being able to have a good camping shower can detract from a great break. If you go to a camping ground, oftentimes they do provide a communal shower building, but this is only usually in the larger parks. The problem with these large parks, is that sometimes, they are not all that different from being at home. These larger sites have a lot of campers that are very close to each other with minimal privacy, and so in many ways you are not really communing with nature like you really should on a camping holiday. Because the campsites in these parks are so close you often hear everything being said, in the site beside you. Whilst this style of camping can be fun if you are part of a large group, it can be very off-putting, if you are looking for some peace and quiet.
Nature loving campers like the style of camping that brings you closer to nature; where all you have is yourself, your companions, and the equipment and supplies that you carry in on your back. Many people would classify these remote sites as primitive. Depending how deep into the forest you go you may have a toilet in the vicinity, but it's not likely; and it's highly unlikely that you will have access to a shower of any kind. What these remote locations will lose in facilities, they more than make up for peace, quiet, and tranquillity. In days gone by, oftentimes, the only camping shower you would find in such locations would be your own large canvas bag filled with water and strung from a branch on a nearby tree. With any luck, this bag would be in full sun during the day, and so be warmed enough to provide some level of comfort in having this remote shower facility. To turn this canvas bag into a shower of bottom had a spigot that enabled you to turn this primitive shower on and off. You could create a little bit of privacy for yourself by hanging towels and blankets from winds strung around branches of nearby trees, but on a windy day, this did not provide much privacy at all.
The modern-day camping shower is much more convenient, and far more sophisticated. Whilst you will find variations on the theme, they in general operate much the same way. Some have batteries, that instantly heat the water, so you can have a hot shower on even a cold, cloudy day; but of course if you are going for any period of time, you are going to need some form of power source to recharge these batteries. Another great improvement is that instead of standing in dirt or on pine needles, these new style of camping showers provide a heavy mesh floor with pop-up sides; which gives you both the clean, stable floor to stand on, as well as good privacy screening. The sides of these showers are also made of a fine mesh, so they not only provide for privacy, but also for good airflow. The improvement in camping equipment, that is available these days, as evidenced by the camping shower described above, plus the additions of a few previously unavailable, luxury items means that more people can enjoy the great outdoors, away from the crowds in trailer parks and large camping spots. Camping is a fun, healthy pastime that all the family can enjoy, and even the most ardent nature haters in your family have less to complain about with modern shower and toilet accessories that you can find in all good camping stores.
